Where is it?

I've searched the forums for an answer but the only answer i can find is for XP. I'm on Vista.

I'm asking because I recently had my HDD backed up then wiped for a fresh install. I'm wondering how I can get my sounds back.

what version of WLM do you have?  with MPL4.9 i dont think sounds work http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=95634 read that thread

In Vista the folder is C:\ProgramData\Messenger Plus!\Custom Sounds.

Just copying the sounds across will not work however, as there is also data in the registry that is needed for each sound. After copying, you can use the program here to recreate the necessary registry keys.

Thanks for the tip.  I found the folder and have several custom sounds.  I placed them in the folder and have them running in Messenger now. I really like having these unique sounds.
