Before it was changed, an attachment-link looked like:
http://shoutbox.menthix.net/attachment.php?tid=11111&pid=22222

This was very handy because you could actually find the thread very easly from where the attachment came. you did that by just changing "attachment.php" to "showthread.php"....

But it has been changed to:
http://shoutbox.menthix.net/attachment.php?pid=22222

Which is indeed shorter, but you can't find out what the original thread is anymore

Now, since the [post=xxx] tag was added, there is a way (but dodgy) of finding out the thread:
* go create a new post in a forum:
* enter "[post=22222]" as message
* press preview
* copy the link, or go directly to that link
* discard the post you're making

Now, this is indeed a possible way, but it realy isn't handy.

So, to cut the crap: can the "tid"-tag be added again to attachment-links?

before? I remember seeing the attachment links always without the tid, only with the pid.

Weird request

It would be better if showthread.php automatically showed the thread when only giving the $pid (now it just gives a thread not found error)

Also possible, if this is better then fine with me (as long as it also jumps to the post, cause otherwise you still have to "find" the exact post) I only wanted a "decent" way to find out the original threads from the attachments...

that's fine also

they "once" had the tid also.... in old posts with links to attachments you can still see them

I don't want dodgy unnecessary parameters in my URLs

In MyBB RC3, it's even more difficult to identify where the attachment is from, because the URL is attachment.php?aid=attachment-id

I might be willing to allow showthread.php?pid=post-id but as I said above, that will be useless eventually anyway with the RC3 attachment system.

They why wouldn't you let showthread.php accept AID such as showthread.php?aid=attachment-id
