i've installed handwriting, but where is the tab.  how do i use it, can someone please tell me  how it works once you've installed it.

If you have a proper OS and if you did everything correct according to the instructions and thus also installed the Ink Redistributables, then the tabs should be displayed automaticly. If not, type /xtoggledraw in a conversation window, close the conversation window and open a new one...

If all this didn't work, then you either haven't done everything correct or don't have the right OS....
