Shoutbox

I am having a problem with the email.  Normally messenger would show me on the screen if i got new emails or how many new one i have but now it doesn't.  It also goes  to Outlook mailbox instead of my hotmail.  How can i get it to go back to the old way of showing how many messages on my screen and going directly to hotmail instead of outlook???

GO to Plus!>Preferences>POP3 Email and uncheck the box at the top

also make sure that there is nothing in the client/link box
