As some of you may have read in a post or 2, I have had issues accessing many parts of the Msgplus.net website. However, i had no problem accessing the site from my mothers computer, which runs the same software as me and is on the same ISP (and same network). I decided to check my HOSTS file to see if it was blocked in there for some reason. Upon opening up the file and doing a search, i found many entries, shown below. the *s edit out what i assume is patchou's real name.
quote:
# [***** ********][Messenger Plus!]
127.0.0.1 download.msgplus.net
127.0.0.1 files.msgplus.net
127.0.0.1 plugins.msgplus.net
127.0.0.1 www.msgplus.net
127.0.0.1 www.msgpluszone.com
127.0.0.1 www.patchou.com
127.0.0.1 www.lyricsdomain.com #[affiliate]
127.0.0.1 www.negativebeats.com #[Downloader.Small][affiliate]
I scrolled up to the begining of the section that contained that part (I have used many things to build my HOSTS file, each with its own section), and found that it was inserted by
this group of entries. I even opened up the file that is provided from that site and searched through it, and found the exact entries.
The entries might be in there to protect people from downloading the sponsor package, which many places label as Malware. or perhapse theres a personal vendetta against Patchou (unlikely).
I think Patchou or someone should probably contact the maintainer of this list, and ask why those sites are included in there, as well as request their removal.
