O.P. Can't send or receive messages
Alright.

We reformatted our computer last night, so I'm just redownloading and reinstalling things. I put MSN Messenger 6.2 on, and last time (before the reformat) mom had upgraded Plus! to version 3.25... and she installed the sponser.

I didn't like the sponser, and niether did she, but even after uninstalling Plus! it wouldn't go away. We'd been having other problems too, so we decided to reformat.

Anyway.

I wanted to put Plus! back on to my computer but without the sponser. But when I have it on, minus the sponser, I can't send messages.

When I click the name it comes up with something along the lines of "Can't start converstation with >name here<. Please try again." The same goes for when some trys to send me a message. I just get a pop up of the same thing.

Everything else, that I'm aware of, for Plus! works then. I can go and edit my prefrences and what not...

If you care to know, I'm using Windows XP and I have a Dell.

First try using messenger with out plus. todo this
Go to task manager and click the "Processess" tab.
Then end any instances of "MsgPlus.exe"
If this problem persists with out plus running then its a messenger problem. Try re-installing messenger to fix this.
Other wise if the problem stops when plus isnt running then try re-installing plus.

It sounds like you are using the handwriting plugin, if so uninstall that by deleting handwriting.dll from C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins or if you wanna keep it have a look at Ink/Handwriting plugin everything you need to know

Madman66: Messenger works just fine with out it... and I've also tried re-installing plus, several times. Even with other versions I have of plus. Only with plus does the message come up.

Sunshine: I don't have any plugins currently installed. =/

Ok, so no plugins (this problem often occurs with handwriting plugin, thats why i asked...have you checked the plugins folder?). But perhaps Smileycentral or Spleak? These tend to cause lots of strange problems aswell.

This error is indeed nearly always due to the handwriting plugin. Could you see if the file MSNHandwriting.dll is present on your computer, especially in C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins?

If you don't see it there, search your computer for it and delete it.
