Would it be possible to make a plugin that could detect when a blocked contact signs in, and display a toast?

In relation to that (though technically this shouldn't be in the plugin section), would it be possible to modify Plus' offline notification to pop up a toast when a contact signs out (create a reg setting to enable that, maybe)?

1) I think alerts already notify you about blocked contacts signing in.

2) There's no way to distinguish between 'appear offline' and signing out. Not for what you want anyway.

Not with a toast popup. You can only do this with sound notifications.

That has no bearing on what I asked. All I want is to simply have the same "<contact name> has gone offline" toast for blocked contacts. Plus' standard offline notification doesn't distinguish, and I wouldn't expect the plugin to, either.

That's not what you asked in your original post: at least, it didn't seem that way.

Anyway, now I've tested it, I see what you mean. While certainly possible with a plugin, I'm not sure how easy it would be.

Hello, I have just registered to share some information.
After a long search, I have managed to have toast and sound
notification when blocked contacts came online.
This is done with Messenger Discovery's toasts, and with MsgPlus's sounds.
I am very happy with it.

Do you know how Messenger Discovery knows when a blocked contact comes online?

It's only that with a standard msn messenger and messenger plus you can't see from the contact list if the blocked contact comes online.

Well, I don't know how Discovery knows... and frankly I didn't care ! (but am interested now you ask).

I can see if contacts come off or on line from contact list actually : they are seperated by "offline" and "online" categories, instead of groups.
So they change place. In groups, I think the online ones are at the top of the list anyway.

yes you can. There is no difference if the contact has been blocked or not, your messenger still recieves the notifications if the contact signs in or out. And because of this, Plus! also recieves them (but doesn't display a toast, only a sound).

Take a look at the Event Log Window in Plus!, it will be displayed there. Also in MSN Messenger 7 you can perfectly see the real status of the blocked contact.

mmm I knoe this might not be the same stuff but... it's possible to know when a contact has blocked you??? and when a contact delete's you???

Not when they have blocked you.. unless you use MD's method, which basically remembers if they go offline and then waits for that person to open a conversation window with you, this will tell you that you were blocked by the person and he now have open a window with you, this way you can be notified if you have been blocked.. but besides that it's kinda impossible...
