Ok, I have Messenger Plus and i got a msg pop up from microsoft antispyware...saying it wants to start up with my registry files or something. i have blocked this. is that the right thing to do? or does plus need to start up with my registry... id be very grateful if you could help. thanx.

you should update microsoft antispyware also..i believe its stopped saying msgplus is spyware..

it is up2date... but for some reason its asking to either allow or block Messenger Plus from starting up in my registry. why does plus want to start up in my registry...or is that what its supposed to do? i don't know im confused. maybe plus is spyware and something.

allow it so it could start up with windows, i think i'm correct...

yes your right coz now you dont have to load msgplus sapperate from messenger

now it starts automaticly with messenger

thanks =] so i should just set to ignore this registry thing.  cuz it keeps coming up in my scans. so this start up wont harm my pc?

Messenger Plus! is just a normal program like everything else. This means it also puts his settings in the registry, like any other program...

However, MS AntiSpyware wrongly detects Messenger Plus! as being a malicious program. And that is why you get the warning. It is 100% safe to ignore this warning.

Messenger Plus! needs to be run at Windows startup in order to be able to hook itself to MSN Messenger (well that is, it doesn't need to be run at windows startup per se. But to explain all this would be very technical; the important part is, there is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with it)...

The only thing that could be described as "malicious" (although it still isn't) is the optional sponsor program which you explicitly must agree upon to let it install. This sponsor is not needed to run Plus! and you can easly opt out on it during the setup of Plus!. The sponsor is a totaly seperate program. However MS Antispyware doesn't make this difference and catogorize everything as being malicious, even if you did not install the sponsor at all.
