Right, use Eclipse as base IDe for any language and attach plugins to it to extend capabilities. For example, for HTML/CSS/PHP you may use PHP Eclipse Plugin and not waste a buck in the buggy dreamweaver.

Photoshop CS2 is also a good choice.

I know, I use Notepad2, free and open-source as well (based on SciTE). I used Notepad as the example because I wanted to mention something that needed no preparation/downloading. I also wanted to list the text editor that comes with Mandriva, but I can't remember tha name.

Half-life 2(comes with counter strike source)

it is a good time waster.. and you can spend hours playing it online
