i'm going to be rebuilding my computer soon, and it would be very nice if i could save the custom names of my contacts on to a disk or something, just so i don't have to work out who everyone is

Go to prefences then to export to file or something at the bottom

Yes you can,
- Main Messenger Window
- Plus > Preferences
- Save\Load (at the bottom)
- Export my preferences to a data file
- Make sure "Export Contact specific information" has a tick in the box next to it (and at the same time you can copy any other settings over)
- Pick a location for the file
- Click Next > Close

Then to put it on your new rebuilt computer
- Main Messenger Window
- Plus > Preferences
- Save\Load (at the bottom)
- Import my preferences from a data file
- Select the file you created and follow the wizard.
