hey,

Every so often when I turn my computer on at the plug before hitting the box power button it would switch its self on and display "CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad" it then says to hit f12 to enter the BlOS setup I select from it save changes and it reboots and everythings fine again also the computers time clock has been running slow I was thinking maybe it could be the CMOS battery?

Sounds like it. Replace the battery with a new one, and also you shouldn't need to turn the power off at the socket.
