Why is that abso? For what reason would someone want to unnecessarily bloat their htaccess file? Sure, it gets better search results (supposedly ), but I honestly doubt that a site like Plus! has problems with that.

Well, abso partially has a point, because most pages on the site are mod_rewrited to give them pretty looking URLs. However, stats.php is part of the scripts DB. The enitre scripts DB is basically a paFileDB installation. We decided not to mod_rewrite that, because it would take too much work to make that look pretty.
