does anyone know of any way i can change the background of the messenger window? not conversations but messenger itself? (perhaps through a plugin or a script)

because i really want to use my current desktop as an msn background (Here's why)

Errr..... There's already a script to do that . See Background Changer In Scripts DataBase.

Next time have a look at the Script's Database before asking for a request .

maybe he mean change the sign in window background not the contacts list window background.

It's not possible to change the background as I assume he wishes to change it. Firstly, the contact list image may be scaled, and secondly, you can't change the sign-in background without skinning Messenger.
