I like to use format codes a lot in my conversations. One that that REALLY annoys me is that I will right a sentence, highlight a word that I want to be bold, hit control + B, and it will add an extra space after my word.
For example.

Make THIS word bold.

(highlight "THIS" and hit ctrl + B)

Make [*b]THIS [/b] word bold.

That extra space irritates the crap out of me. However, if I highlight "THIS", click the Format Panel, and then click the 'B', it DOESN'T add the extra space. A bit of an inconsistency.

I think the space is actually better than no space personally... otherwise if I wanted to bold

it would end up as [b]title:[/b] which would then create the :[ (bat) emoticon and screw it up

Use the [noparse] tags for this

does it matter?   a bold space isn't even noticable!!!

This will be fixed (although the fix for ':' will remain).

Wouldn't it make sense to have a space there, so then it saves you the trouble of typing a space...or whatever, and spaces arn't even visible so it won't really matter unless you're drawing something out of letters, like

or whatever. I dunno.

The point is that he bolds the text after he writes the line. So instead of looking like this, there would be an extra space, so it'd look something like this . And that is noticeable.

Ah right, well yeah that's kinda what I meant too.
