O.P. External hard drive gone wierd
My external hard drive won't show up in My Computer or in Disk Management. When I plug the drive into my PC or laptop, the systems recognise (plays that sound when a new device is connected) it. When I go into the device manager, there is a yellow ! on the USB Mass Storage Device. It was working early today so I don't know what the problem.

I have tried changing the jumper but still made no difference. I took the hard drive out of the enclosure and plugged it inside my desktop, but my PC did not recognise it.

If it helps, i'm using Win XP MCE and Win XP Home.

Jumpers and external HDD?

Anyhow; did you try it on another computer?  Open your Device Manager and when you see the yellow "!", click on it and see what's the problem.

It said:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I've had the same problem before.  I usually solved it by plugging in the power first, and letting it get up to speed, and then hooking it upto my computer.

Try taking it out of the case, putting it in your machine to make sure the drives not fried.

I did that. My PC did not recognise the drive at all.
