O.P. "This file is potentially harmful..." message - How do I get rid?
EDIT: I remembered. I downloaded the File Extension Unblocker from mess.be.

http://www.mess.be/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=download&id=620

END EDIT

This is doing my head in, so please help.

Whenever someone sends me an MP3 (Or any "Harmful" file), MSN deletes it when I click on the link within the IM window. I can't figure out why it's doing this. It never used to, but I can't remember how I solved it. I'm not an idiot, I just can't remember how.

In Tools > Options > File Transfer, I've made sure the "Automatically delete harmful files" box is unchecked.

I've tried recieving the file with the "Scan files for viruses using:" box unchecked.

I've tried recieving the file with with OneCare installed.

Nothing works.

What am I doing wrong here? Why isn't it letting me accept the file?

brr I know that, that's damn annoying.
It's not your fault, it's Microsoft  that's just annoying and stupid.
The only way a MP3 file can be harmful is if it is played with their rubbish media player.

I figured out you can bypass the damn thing by going to the "received files" folder, right click --> properties, uncheck "block this file" (something like that), or copy that file to somewhere else to save it from the evil clutch of Microsoft.

Personally I'm hoping Patchou will something cool in the next Messenger Plus that will make all the file transferring problems go away. I will be nice if there was some sort of Bittorrent implementations. . .

I know you can access the file manually, but I'm referring to clicking the link in the IM window itself. I know you can do it as I've done it before many times. However, I formatted a while ago and it hasn't worked since. There is a way you can do it, I just can't remember how.

As far as I know you must configure a virus scanner to scan files in the Tools > Options > File Transfer area. Note that you can set this to any executable of your choice if you don't have a virus scanner or don't want them to be scanned.
