As many of you may be aware recently Microsoft is forcing users to update their msn versions to live, following news that a buffer overflow can be caused in a webcam season and used to run arbitrary code.

I'm rather attached to 6.4, and I can live without webcam seasons. My solution has been to simply hex edit the version number to 8.x. The only problem with my solution to this problem is that now Messenger Plus! believes that I'm using live and won't load.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try changing it to 7.5.324.0. Plus will stull work with that version and MS will not force it to update

why not change it to the current 7.0 version number and you will have no hassles, after all 7.5 users are forced to upgrade (whether it be now or later)

Plus!3 works perfectly fine on MSN Messenger 7.0.0820, which you are allowed to run on Windows XP too now. Read: Good News for those who wish to keep using MSN Messenger. I don't see why you don't want to upgrade to MSN Messenger 7.
