Well, second request sorry for starting so many requests in so little time...

In WLM, avatars are downloaded when you open a message window with your contact, right? I know other msn protocol clients (like miranda IM or aMSN) download avatars seconds after the contact changes it, without opening a message window.

Would it be possible for Messenger Plus to implement this behaviour?

One more thing, Messenger Plus should implement a "Contact changed his/her avatar" notification too, besides the notifications that are already suported.

Once again, sorry for so many requests, maybe I just wanted wlm to support features I miss from other clients. I could use them, yes, but anyway, I think this would benefit us all.

I'm not sure that this will be possible. WLM will only download a DP when it has been requested. This is a feature of the MSNM protocol. The reason other clients can do this, is that they operate differently than WLM.

As for an event when a contact changes the DP, keep in mind there isn't an event for when the local user changes the DP. My guess is that if it were possible, it would have been added already.

Maybe a function to periodically send an hidden request for new dp of selected contacts or something...

I wounder how do other clients "know" when a contact has changed his DP, do MSN protocol sends something? Because with miranda, we don't have to open a message window, DP's are downloaded automatically.

As for the notification, what I meant was messenger plus should notify when other contacts changed their DP's, but that only would make sense if we were able to, exactly, download DP's automatically.

Can I just ask why you would need your contact's DP before opening a message window or contact card?

If you use your contact clist with contact details (one of wich is their DP) option selected, then this makes sense...

Try this skin (it doesn't change anything except the way DPs are loaded).

Are you sure it's working?

After some tests with a friend, I find that it downloads new DP's only with an open message window. Of course, after you open a message window, the connection stays active for 1min, and so every new DP is downloaded automatically, but after that minute, it returns to the same behaviour.

Well, I guess that's just the way WLM works...
