So I signed up my @rogers.com email for a .net password a couple years ago, and it's worked fine with WLM up until a couple weeks ago. When I add contacts, it seems that they've been added fine, but no notification is sent to them, and they have no clue that I've added them, other than that I've told them. I can see them online, and their display names are normal. I can message them and they can reply, but when they try to add me, my address only gets added to their 'other contacts' list, and they can't send me messages, only emails. I've been trying for ages to figure out how to fix this, any ideas? My theory is that I don't have a @hotmail.com or @live.com email address, but I'm not sure.

Unconfirmed email =)
As soon as you open that email's inbox and follow their instructions, you'll be able to do everything normally..... But if that email doesn't exist, as i guess, then get used to it =)

I've been using it for a few years though, I confirmed it right when I set up the account. All my old contacts work normally, its just new contacts.

Oh, it's randomly working now o.O I don't know what happened to it though.
