Yes the winks are back in the latest msn beta realse ( 7.0.0425 ) so it would seem microsoft have closed the security hole the winks caused. dunno wat else is new bout the the latest beta.

p.s. Msg plus still seems to work fine and iu still get the white bar at the bottom of the convo windows does anyone know if that has been fixed yet by patcho

Knowing Microsoft, they probably think they've fixed the security hole, but in fact have made it shitloads worse.

To get rid of the white bar you must change some minor things within the .exe itself.

with the new bet acomes a new featured Pack you can dl from within msn for free via the packs button, halo 2, it isntalls 3 halo 2 backgrounds and a few other things, and puts an advertisment in that white bar to the halo website, which only appears in that covorsation, and goes away after you close it... my guess is they are gonna make it hidden until a pack is installed

there is a patch that takes off that white space.... but im not sure what will happen when you install a pack

I don't know, I have build 332 - I just tried to install the pack and got that message. You can try if you want...

I'm glad to say that I don't know or care! Well, from past performace, it would seem that some sort of Service Pack is going to come out for MSN 7 because of this winks thing. It would be better to just get rid of them all together.

In the past, Microsoft has often released patches/fixes to repair holes in their products, but in doing so, they open up new ones

I'm not a Microsoft hater, more of disliker. You have to admit they do have some problems with security. Look at the Win2k source leak. Also, who the fuck would want such a fucking annoying feature anyways. It's bad enough having the stupid "Someone said something!!!!" sound going when you're trying to do a project with someone over MSN and someone else is talking to you, but now Flash animations? O god, I can just imagine it now, Master Cheif blowing the shit out of some Jackals......that's going to go over REALLY well with my parents.

So sure, it sounds like an M$ hater reply, but it's true. Flash animations would/are ANNOYING! (when they aren't games)
