ok here is the situation.

i am trying to make a database in access 2007, to show all my music that  i have downloaded and i have no clue where to start.

these are the things i would like it the database to contain:

1) all track listings for all my albums
2) all album covers for the albums
3) the genre
4) where that album is located
5) year it was released
6) a way to link to other albums from the same artist
7) lyrics for all the albums
8) my rating of each song and a over all rating of the album
9) a way to have all the albums automatically counted
10) a wat to only display a certain genre of music e.i rock or rap
11) i would also liketo have all the albums and songs and artists searchable

if you are willing to do it for me, before i pay you i would need to see the finished product, i guess you can password protect it so that it cannot be editied, then if it is what i like i will pay you.

STEPS TO FOLLOW


1) Open access
2)then click blank DB
3)then on right hand side type a name for the DB( EG Music downloads)
4) change the view to design view in top left hand corner
5) put ine some field names( these are the names of the colums for all your data EG if you were doing on on cars and you wanted to know the colour of all the car you would have a field called colour)
6)click (on top left) into  datasheet view
7)enter in all your information
8) save

for the lyrics i do not think it is a good idear to have all the lyrics writtin out in a DB so why dont you type them in a word doc. then link to the spefic file

EDIT: the whole point of a DB is that it is searchable so to search for a song all you would need to do is click sort>advance>filter by form

Wow, I was going to be doing something similar for one of my classes!
I would be more than willing to help, as I'm just in the learning stags too. The only problem is that I only have Access 2003.

i dont think it would be a problem since access works with ll older versions as i think they do lol

sounds good. I'll do a mock up in Visio right now, and post it in a bit

there is no such thing as Access 2004. I made a typo, and MusicPirate quoted me before I fixed it

ok have made a very small DB just to give the the general idear
