A very annoying person I have blocked somehow managed to send me a short series of messages this morning.

It only affected the particular person I wanted to evade. I'm not sure if they can see me as online or not.

Anyone else having problems with block, well...not working?

WLM 2011 removed the block option, you just appear offline to that person.
Go back to msn 2009 version.

Wow 2011 is really turning into shit. Blocking should be allowed definitely. M$ is going crazy.

Well keep using msn 2009, thats what i do.

I am. However I just started getting those annoying "new version is out, upgrade" popups each time I log in. Any way to disable those?

If you run Windows Live Messenger in Windows XP Compatibility mode you won't receive the notification however Messenger Plus! will not work properly.

I am on XP.

Sorry for bring this topic up again, but this means all people who sent me previously spam messages and i blocked them, can send me again spam messages cause now i appear offline?
Does this only effect WM2011<->WLM2011, or also users who upgraded to WLM 2011 can send messages to WLM 2009 users even there they are blocked?

Dont know that... but i guess in 2009 the block function works for 2011 contacts.

Btw, if you want get rid of the "new update available", put compatibly mode to "Windows 2000". At least for me it worked, but plus wont work then.
