Oh I see,

I removed the skin and the chars are fine now but the fonts is not

Is there a way to solve this?

I can display any char using any font

or is there a font that contains lots of chars?

Each font has a set of characters, so you'll probably have to find a font which has all the characters you need or use the default WLM2009 one.

There is no font which contains all the possible characters. That simply doesn't exist. What unicode enabled programs do instead (or should do) is loading the appropiate font as needed. It also has to do with how you've setup Windows (eg: if extra special fonts are installed or not for the more 'exotic' languages).

lol I dont have the exotic font

The weird part is that these chars are visible at 8.5

so i think there is a font that contains most of the chars

I wish I could know the font of 8.5 :(

I think this might help

[Image: BgBDT.jpg]

Whats the font used in this window, because it can read almost all of the chars lol XD

btw I would like to ask how to know the ID of something, for example

I tried 20061 to change the background picture in 9.0 but it didnt work

or maybe because I pasted the picture in the wrong place?

I pasted the picture with the XML

code:
                 <Replace>

                    <Graphics><Pictures>
                        <Picture Id="20061">
                            <File>nub.jpg</File>
                        </Picture>
                    </Pictures></Graphics>
                </Replace>

It is in the right place :P But the Picture Id is wrong. The main contact list background is 625 iirc, you have to modify that window's definition file to get a single background.

The way I find the IDs is by looking at the extracted resources [you can exctract them from Customization > Skins] and then trial and error the most likely ones. [They are labeled "source_group_id.extension" by MP!L when extracting]

            <Restrictions>
                <MsgVersions>
                    <Version Major="8" Minor="5"/>
                </MsgVersions>
            </Restrictions>

            <Resources>
                <Replace>
                    <Strings>
                        <String Id="61288">Hello World!</String>
                    </Strings>

                    <Graphics><Pictures>
                        <Picture Id="20061">
                            <File>clouds.jpg</File>
                        </Picture>
                    </Pictures></Graphics>
                </Replace>

Oh, most examples from the documentation are outdated. The skininfo.xml you posted, for example, will only load on Messenger 8.5, use Major="14" Minor="0" for 2009 and Major="15" Minor="4" for 2011.
