Hi!!

Using a very old pc that i have ( Pentium II 350 Mhz), i found my old conversations of messenger, i mean the history of the conversations of MSN messenger.
The files are in a format called *.HST, but i canīt open them
This type of files was created by messenger plus!but the newest versions dont open this file, it is not supported.

Could you tell me please any idea to open these files?
I tried the bloc note, but i canīt read any information, i tried to change the format, but it doesnīt work,
I hope that you could find any solution, I will be very grateful!!

(My version was Messenger Plus! 3.50)

byeee!
see you soon!

Messenger Plus! never created *.hst files. it used .txt for unencrypted chats and .ple for encrypted chats. Messenger itself (when it supported chat logging) used .xml.

Are you sure it wasn't another tool?

Iīm very sure that i was using Messenger plus! because i didnīt use another tool for chat.

These files were created in 2004.

I didnīt use yahoo messenger or something like that, because i always use msn messenger.

I remember that in the past i chose the section plus! in the program and i read the conversations with *.hst extension

Thank you for help, and your quick answer :)

Have you tried opening it with netscape? A quick Google search told me it could work :P [Google also told me it could be Corel WordPerfect, or Yahoo Messenger, but you said you didn't use it. Worth the shot, anyways.]

Those files never came from Messenger Plus!.

As Matty already said, nor Messenger Plus! for Windows Live Messenger, nor Messenger Plus! for MSN Messenger ever used the extension 'HST'.

In fact, it is Yahoo! Messenger that creates HST files for its conversation logs. So if you wanna read them, you must install Yahoo! Messenger.
So, at some point in the past you must have used Yahoo Messenger, otherwise those HST log files are impossible to appear.
