O.P. MX or A records error messages
hi

i get this message on my email No MX or A records When I email to this person from my "yahoo account' it says No MX or A record for some email address.

what does this mean ? i know its error on 'server side' but why  i can not browse:o those sites to which mail is also bouncing back .

Are they blocking email address of  mine.:)

thanks

RE: MX or A records error messages
What's the domain name of the person you're trying to reach? Example, if I'm trying to reach person@hotmail.com , the domain name would be hotmail.com

An MX record will point to where the mail servers are. So if I'm emailing to hotmail.com, the configuration of that domain should include the mail servers that hotmail uses.

If the domain name of the person is not set up properly (no MX records or records pointing at a wrong place), the person will not be able to receive the mail.

You can run an who.is (http://who.is) to verify if the domain is still active (and can therefore receive mail). If that is the case, you could run a MX lookup (http://http://mxtoolbox.com/) to see if the mail servers are properly configured. If they are not configured properly, it would explain the message you receive.

RE: MX or A records error messages
So in the box on www.mxtoolbox.com you've entered:
mx:the.domainname.com
and/or
a:the.domainname.com
and it came up with "no results"?

As Albert said, in that case it means there is no MX and/or A record set and thus that domain is not configured to act as a mailserver and can't recieve emails. Which explains the message you've received when you attempt to send the email.

Thanks for recommending our MX record lookup. It sounds like the domain you are looking up doesn't have valid MX records. Without DNS or MX records mail will not be able to be routed for this domain. Could you let us know the domain so we could help further?

Thanks,
@mxtoolbox

I already told you that the owner needs to reregister the domain in another thread. Nothing will work without the domain being registered...

And have a look at this post: Adeptus's reply to DOMAIN  HISTORY
