Hi,

DNS points domain names to servers and ip addresses.  In this instance, we are using an MX record to tell mail servers which mail server (mine) they need to send mail to for a specific domain.

When sombody sends a message to sombody@msgplus.net, the mail server looks for an MX record on msgplus.net, a server to which it should send mail.  This allows you to host the website on a seperate server from email.

Since patchou needed to change that record, it takes some time to update around the net.  If the net were contantly updating dns records, everything would slow to a crawl, so records only update every few hours to save the load on things.

Stop saying thanks everytime

do not see realationship bw DNS and the fact we can not activate our acount with MSN messenger

Until DNS updates, the servers that send out the activation emails for MSN will not be able to find my server.

two questions Sonic Boom.... what activation e-mail and when did you register your @msgplus.net with passport

could you send me the contents of the activation e-mail

Why couldnt we just have an e-mail where we could check are e-mail and send our e-mail like hotmail so less confusion

Any one know of a program i can use to check my e-mail besides Outlook and Express
