I am looking for a messenger that is compatible with windows '98. I have already tried 6.0 but apparently it is too advanced or something. Won't work with my internet connection. 5.0 also doesn't work with '98. Please help!

msn messenger 5.0 should work, i think also 6.0
any msn messenger under 5.0 won't work in a couple of days coz MS won't klet those clients connect to the server

try windows messenger 4.7 then

u could try downn a version from mess.be but i wouldnt down nethin below 4.7

I use MSN Messenger 5 on Windows 98 and it works fine, but 6 should work too, unless you have an old slow computer.

What exactly goes wrong when you try to use Messenger?

I have messenger 6 working on win 98 so it must be ur crappy computer

I'm also using windows 98 and have the newest msn (6.1.0128), and everything works just fine

perhaps try using trillian (can be downloaded from www.trillian.cc)

Make sure you downloading the correct version and you have the installer from microsoft updated

You can't use Windows Messenger under Windows 98.

Anyway...MSN Messenger 6.0.0602 for Windows 98 http://g.msn.com/7MEEN_US/EN/SETUP9X.EXE should work...
