is this possible may make the contact list look larger but could be cool to have?

Nah sorry, its (as far as i know) not really possible to do
But... that said, nothings impossible..


Edit: I think its a 'ListView' (kinda like the plus event log).. 

maybe it could look something like this?

Nope, not possible, sorry...

The only way it could be made possible as far as I can see would be if you used a different client or a hacked version of MSN...although I can't think of a way to do it in ResHack..

yea.. resource hacking will not do any good when it comes to that
Different client would work if it was desgined to do so.. of course

Easy mistake   I got confused at first too

seems like a good idea, if its possible then do it by all means
