Unfortunately, WMP doesn't natively support ripping to MP#, because it costs money to get a license to do that. if you are dedicated to WMP< then there are a number of plugins you can get, which will cost you about $10 US. to do that, go to tools> Options> copy music> and in the "copy settings" section, click the link to learn about MP# encoding.
for a free alternative, MusicMatch Jukebox Basic will encode MP3s. as will Apple's iTunes. I personally prefer iTunes, but i have an iPod. However, i have nothing against MMJB, except they keep pushing their payed version, whereas iTunes is 100% free (as in beer)
