O.P. Help me get rid of dirty yahoo

I was springcleaning my computer and i saw a load of dirty yahoo programs all installed on my computer then i installed yahoo messenger. i tried to get rid of 'yahoo mail' and it wouldnt go. so i tried uninstalling yahoo messenger to see if i could get shot of it. sadly it wont even go after that ive done. i click on 'remove' in control panel- add remove programs. the box simply disappears for half a second and then reappears having done nothing.

any ideas to get rid of this dirty 16.5mb program called yahoo mail?

plus can you reinstall yahoo messenger in the future without these stupid programs?

It should work in the Add/Remove programs section.

ok boot up into safe mode. you probally cant get rid of it cos its always running. try doing the add/remove thing in there. if that dont work, press ctrl alt del and goto process (if your in xp. if your in anything else i dont no wat it is) find anything to do with yahoo. there shouldnt be anything if your in safe mode unless yahoo has messed with your boot up. i have never used yahoo before. if there is something then end. try uninstalling it again. if that dont work goto my computer and program files. find the yahoo folder. search around and you will probally find a uninstall program. try that. if none of that dont work then tell me. there are other ways but one of those should work if its a small probalem.

Read the thread I pointed out...

The one and only solution (this is found all over the web, if you know what to look for):

    Hi,

I've finally figured out how to remove Yahoo! Internet Mail. The error is that regsvr32 cannot use the ymmapi.dll file correctly. It cannot install (the /i switch) or uninstall (the /u) switch. All the Yahoo uninstall program does is have regsvr32 execute the uninstall command silently, which is why the screen only flashes. You will see the error message if you do not use the silent flag.

The solution is to log into Yahoo mail (or get an account) and click on the compose button. Then, click on the "Enable Autocomplete" link or image. Follow the steps to install Autocomplete (but be careful to not choose to set it as your default mail client, etc.). Once it has installed you may now return to the Add/Remove programs dialog and uninstall Yahoo! Internet Mail as before, and then uninstall Autocomplete. It worked for me, I hope it is of some help to others. This is a relatively simple and low-risk solution as it does not require manually editing the registry.

And if you read carefully the official instructions (also in my previous post), they say the same (pretty vague though)...

No, not with the normal installer, it will ALWAYS install the so called "dodgy" stuff also (that includes "hijacking" the default homepage)....

But, there is a installer for Messenger alone it seems according to this post on BigBlueBall, instead of the full Messenger Suite... It can be downloaded here: http://download.yahoo.com/dl/intl/ymsgruk.exe (uk version 4mb)

EDIT:
I also found:
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/intl/ymsgrde.exe (German version, 3mb)
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/intl/ymsgrfr.exe (French version, 3mb)
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/intl/ymsgrcn.exe (Chinese version, 3mb)
etc...
list of countries can be found below on http://messenger.yahoo.com/

And:
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/intl/ymsgr.exe (dunno what version this is, but it's only 1mb)
