i hav'in trouble but its not a big problem but its very annoying and i would it if anyone could pls help me  

ok when i do <--- its the smilie but in a msn plus or even just a normal msn 6.2 window it does'nt show up as a smilie it just show up as : ( without the space and its very annoying also when some im talkin to does smilie it does'nt show up , but they see it as the face <-- like that

Emoticons are enabled in instant messages?

In a conversation window, Tools > Display emoticons ininstant messages. (Check it if it isnt already done so, and close the window and try again?)

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling msn as i have the same problem. could someone please help me out. my friends have smilies in there msn screen name and it doesn't show up on my side.

If you have enabled custom names, try to disable it. Go to Preferences > Contact List > Custom Names and disable the option, if it's enabled.

ive already tryed that as well.
