Is there any plug-in that plays sound only when a contact sends a message?

i dont get it very well.
i think what u want is to disable every sound except the one that is played when someone sends a message?
These sounds can be configured (disabled eventually) in the control panel > sounds. here u will see a window where u have to search for MSN and then disable the sounds u dont like

what do u mean?
if u select "none"as the name of the file to play in that window, u will have disabled the sound...
if u mean how do u stop a sound while its being played, there is no way to do that (i think)
if u mean anything else, reply and explain me
