O.P. How can u appear online when you are not logged in to MSN?
Sometimes when I log into MSN I get the message "you are already logged in on another computer" and get thrown out again.

This worried me as I don't log onto to public PCs (with their key stroke loggers and spyware installed 8-) ) so I wondered what's going on

I set up another hotmail account, added myself as the contact and can see myself online.

Do you remain to appear online in MSN even after you've logged out for a while, or should I be concerned?

It's also possible that Windows Messenger is started up before MSN messenger check out this post from CookieRevised:

Thanks sunshine, I think it's that. I had already changed my p/w for my passport and was still having the problem.

Changing the Local Policy settings for Messenger startup has fixed the problem
