O.P. Question about idle status
I know that sometimes my contacts status changes to idle as opposed to away, is this related in anyway to the show me as away when inactive for x minutes, and if it isnt related to that, do you know if your own status changes to idle, ie does it say at the top of your window. Also is idle if you are idle on your pc, ie not touching the keys or mouse, or is it just not using msn. and finally 8-) if idling is unrelated to the show me as away option how long does it take you to become idle.

RE: Question about idle status
If you're talking about the feature in Messenger (Tools > Options), then it considers you idle when you don't use your mouse and keyboard for the specified amount of time.

If you're talking about the feature in Plus (Plus! > Preferences > General Options > Miscellaneous > Automatically change status after a period of inactivity) it's the same, the only difference is that it lets you choose which status you want to change to.

but is that what idling actually is? if someone becomes idle does it mean that they have checked the box to change status to away after x amount of time and so it changes them to idle when they dont touch the mouse or keyboard for that time? in the tools >> options?

yeah, but is idle status built into msn as default or is it related to the option to change status to away? also i noticed MD has an option to stop you appearing idle, so presumably its independent of any messenger options? and if you yourself do become idle do you know?

ok, so is it possible to know when you yourself are appearing idle? or will it not happen because to know youd have to be sitting at the pc and so touching keys etc etc so you would never be able to view yourself as idle?

Idle = away. You can configure it in Messenger > Tools > Options.
I don't know if this is what you were referring to...
