Hi everybody

I am am experiencing Msgplus for sometimes. And the messenger too
I am chatting with Russian friends, most of time in english, and for some words in russian. My problem comes when I want to see the archive of the conversation. The russian are only ???????? ??? ????? something like it.
I wanted to know if there was a plugin to arhive with another character coding format like Unicode instead of ANSI, or simply to see with correct letters instead of that ?
save it as rtf which seems to support it too.

No, not a plugin, because this is simply an option in Messenger Plus! already



Plus! > Preferences > General Options > Local Settings > "Save text files with the Unicode character set"


Nothing can be done for your already existing logs though, they are saved with the wrong character-coding, this can't be reversed...

You have a point there. I can imagine that the though behind it is that it was intentionally meant for other files as well. Or maybe because it has more todo with your local system settings... Dunno.... Food for thought I assume....

I can buy the other files to store, if you tell me which. because I gave a look at all the tabs I have, and only in the archinving ( logging ) tabs it is about storage. My local settings are french, with the russian virtual keyboard set up.

that's why I said "intentionally meant for"... to be more clear, maybe Patchou had ideas to store other things in files also, and thus putted it there (and left it there, cause it is there since a long long time).... I dunno... The best I can come up with is because it is kind of a local system setting, which seems logic also. But since it is only used for logging, the most logic place would be in the logging section. But this also implies that those sections must be completely redesigned, which isn't an easy job at all...

Only Patchou can answer this really...
