Most proxies will only block out the URL to a site unless they really want to restrict the access. Most times in a command prompt or an online website you can ping the url and get the IP address of the server and enter that into your browsers address bar.

Thanks for those two links, I'll test them tomarrow at school and see if they work.  Matty, I am pretty sure that the proxy my school uses blocks url's, not IP's, but I'm not sure.  Sometimes if a site is blocked I use google, search for a image that would be on the site, and I can get in that way.  So that would suggest that they do not block ips', just urls. 

I think the best way to find out is to just ask the school admin.  So thats what I'll do. 

my school block anything and everything in the address bar and script containing works such as "forum" "chat" etc etc

matt the link u gave me wouldnt work for me as the word forum.mess.be is visible in the addressbar and thus it is blocked

anyone kno a workaround for this

When it blocks it, does it like give you a page were you can authorize a over-right? Most school networks do..Just get your teachers name and pass and there ya go

Well the two websites did not work.  I was going to talk to the school admin but he was not here today.  I think I will just give up.  I dont want to get in more trouble for bypassing the block they set up. 

meh i didnt get in trouble (elsementary) i didnt even get in trouble once the ENTIRE school knew how to bypass our bess proxy
they just patched the internet explorer preferances panel so you couldnt change the proxy config (youd just untick the "use proxy" thing) so when my teacher needed to let students on certain sites in the library we took the proxy thing from her ibook and copied it to the imacs.. i love teachers who side with you

you must have a slack school then !!!!

at my school u can't config anything !!!! u can't even right click. everything is blocked for students its well annoying

i once changed one of the backgrounds to a picture of the teletubbies holding a windows flag

I just tried the proxy 2005 link on my school system from home and it worked, i can now bypass all the banned sites. Thanks a lot people
