Before some smartass comes along and says "but RC2 includes a portal.php too!": that script isn't ready to be used, and I'm not interested in using it.

You could post news and such on the first page.

Announcements appear as News there. It looks fancy, but it's rather useless. It has a little latest frame, a little stats frame, a little PM frame, but not a good access to all forums and posts. Instead you have the general access with the same information and a direct access to all forums and posts in 2 clicks.

I don't really see a point in this forum having a portal, I agree that they're pretty useless to have...
