* Vazza bangs head off wall.
Why me?

All I want to do is go back to 98. All we want to know is how to goet 2000 to restore 98 and remove itself.

Is that too much to ask?

Well, I think he had a look and it seems that there is no way back (eek). He's talking about buying a whole new harddrive though and just starting again (the computer system is 4 years old but the amount of work its done, theres no shame. I think its overheard that they're planning on buying a new computer and has decided it doesn't want to play)

Anyways, thanks to all and should anything else come up, I'll let yous know

seems a bit drastic  buying a New HDD just to  reinstall 98 again,  why not just format the original HDD , un les its to old?

Yeah, but I think its 98 because the modem we have isn't compatabile with 2000 and he doesn't want to buy a new modem. So at the moment they are on a laptop with no virus protection, so lets take guess how long that will take to be cme infected (a) and so I know what I'll be doing at christmsa time (here virus, virus, virus,. I don't want to hurt you. Much)

go to your school, make a boot disk on thier 98 machine( Start, Controll Pannel, Add Remove Programs, Make boot Disk.)

Once its finished making one, Insert it to your A: and restart.

you might need to set your boot sequence to A, newer machines Boot sequence are defualtly set on CDROM. So just press Del in when your computer is botting up and acces your Cmos Settings.

Never Ever Upgrade 98 to 2k or XP without formatting EVER!
if you are keen on keeping 2000 (which it doesnt look like) grab all the stuf u wanna keep and burn it to cd (assuming you have a CD burner that is...) or other secure source. Format ya hard disk somehow.

I know if you boot from the xp cd it lets you format before installation, so format using that let it install. You should find your modem works

I had a similar problem, when i stepped up, the modem dialing was screwed. I formatted, Installed and it worked fine
I should change my sig ay?
