O.P. Dodgy  Error when I close a window
First of all, Hello Everybody, this is the first time I post here .

Anyway I noticed an annoying error when i close a chat window .

This is the error that I often get

" An error occurred loading the message history" and "An invalid character was found in text content. Line: x. Position: y (Do you want to try again?)"

I found out this is an error caused by customization

I also found out there is a program that checks automatically to find what's wrong in the customization
My unlucky, that program doesn't work ^o)

At the moment i have installed msn 7 beta, and the last Messenger Plus for that version . I haven't installed plug ins.

I had instelled plug ins, but then i removed them, unlucky I still get that error.

There is a solution for this problem ? ( not disable my convo's logs, please ) . It is really annoying . +o(

Thanks you Everybody .

Bye (Y) :D

I also have this problem, but for me, it will only occur if I used the Handwriting feature, or I have unicode characters typed.

I couldnt find any solution for it...

Windows Version: Windows XP Professional with SP2 (Build 2600)
Messenger Version: MSN Messenger 7.0 BETA (Build 7.0.0425)
Plus! Version: 3.40.112

EDIT: Oh okay, thks...

Hello,
Microsoft is aware of the problem as I (an official tester) have reported it, they have told me they are working to fix it.  I expect it to be fixed in the next version.

Mess.be has a tool that corrects these errors in the logs, so they become readable again.

You can use ScanXMLLogs to solve this problem ;)

Note: this program requires .NET Framework

I'm almost sure that "Handwriting plug-ins " is the cause of this error .

About the tool that you are talking about, I downloaded it, but I need a Framework that i'm not able to find oO ... .so it doesn't work

Can you know how uninstall in a total way this Handwriting plugin ?. I mean, I uninstalled it, but even tho it is deleted i still get that error . Imho there are some files to delete in the windows directory .

Thanks everybody for the help ;)
Oh, thanks for the link Sunshine :D

I've been on that link, before, but i thought it was another version .

Thanks you :D

Therefore toally uninstalled it.
The Handwriting plugin has nothing to do with the XML logs Messenger keeps. Therefore, it cannot be the cause of the problem.

The problem is caused by a bug in Messenger, where it corrupts the log itself. Use the ScanXMLLogs SUnshine gave the link to to clear these errors.

And also, don't doubel post.

It does. Cause MSN Messenger will try to keep what you drawn during the conversation, thus it crashes. If my PC does not have handwriting, and I talk to a new contact, the log is sucessfully saved. But when I installed Windows Journal Viewer, which lets me write, then MSN Messenger's log cannot be saved, and the error message is presented.

So what else could be the problem? I dont know...Can someone tell me?

Windows XP Professional SP2 Build 2600
MSN Messenger 7.0 BETA Build 7.0.0425
Messenger Plus! 3.40.112 BETA
(Do I need to include the version of Windows Journal Viewer? But I couldnt find it anywhere [I mean the version number])

I thought you were talking about version 6 when you mentioned the Handwriting plugin. Version 7 doesn't need that plugin, just Ink.
Anyway, also remember v7 is still BETA, and will have numerous unresolved bugs.
