I have downloaded the msn beta and so has a few of my friends. I seem to have just the basics - nudges, winks and packs.

My friends have a special thing where they can handwrite a message.

How do they have it and I don't??

You need a journal viewer. Get it from Windows Update.

This functionality is available if you use Windows XP (and possibly Windows 2000, but it might not work on that system; it will for sure not work on Windows 95/98/ME).

To enable the handwriting functionality in MSN Messenger 7 make sure you have the Windows Journal Viewer installed. You can install the Journal Viewer free of charge at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?F...b44&DisplayLang=en or by using Windows Update.

where you write the messages, below there should be a couple of tabs. One if for normal writting and the other for handwritting. (I think that you also need Windows 2000/XP/2003 and you have to install the ink redistributables too (for example from http://www.xs4all.nl/~immi/fanatic/ (one of the first links found in google, dunno if it works))).
