O.P. port 80?
i just done a scan on my ports and it says

Open and Unsecure!
80 (HTTP)

If this computer is not supposed to be acting as a web server you should not have this port open.

whats this port used for should i close it?

The port is used to access the internet. If it's open, then that means that something is connecting to the internet from your computer.

Have you got a router? If you do, its remote administration may be enabled.
The previous sentence is false. The following sentence is true.

It actually means the computer will accept connections from the Internet.
You'll find outgoing HTTP connections will never go from port 80. I just did 'netstat -o', and found Firefox was making outgoing connections around port 1500.

No, 80 is the port on the server, not the port on your computer! There's a difference between the source port and the destination port.

Thanks for the backup DZ.

Shawnz, did you actually read my post properly? The outgoing connections Firefox was making around 1500 were HTTP requests i.e. going to a website.
I'll give you a tip: never argue with someone who's studied networking.

Use a decent firewall to ensure this port is blocked!  Theres tests on the internet to make sure your machines secure.  Zonealarm will do the job from www.zonelabs.com
