When a person on my contact list sends me a message i see this quite a bit in the chat window what the heck for ? and why is it there??

Ahh i get that all the time ... from what i know its something they installed or got sent..spyware and maybe they should run their virus scanners

What it is is a kind of emoticon pack/program. Everytime they use one of their emoticons & you don't have that program it sends you that instead of the emoticon.

Get your friend to run ad-aware after uninstalling that. If she's that good at installing spyware then I would be surprised if she doesn't have any more..

Buddy Icon? WTF, annoyingfor more info, but that should be enough

it sends that message but says 'icon: blank' or whatever when they open the conversation. i think its spyware or adware.....wehatever it is its really annoying and i wouldn't recommend using it

Nothing forces you to do or use anything. It's completly up to you.

they didnt choose to send that. it happened to a few of my contacts

Well tbh to make a comparison Plus! does something similar (sending text you did not specificly send). When you click 'Share some of my files' and choose Plus! it will automaticly send 'if the download fails..............' And being honest I see know one up in arms about that.
