ok, i did something stupid, and now i seem to be paying for it. i renamed a zip file as an mp3 and ended up playing it in winamp.

it obviously didn't work and i clicked back to my music, but it wouldn't play, so i've uninstalled winamp.
and while it re-installed decided to play my music on WiMP. But to my horror it played but no sound was exerted! so i tried out the windows sounds and now see that no sound is working on my computer whatsoever.

The windows volume control is not set to mute. neither is that of winamp or WiMP. I've checked the drivers etc in device manager. and i tried out the speakers with my walkman, they worked fine.

i don't know what's wrong and i need help.

Trry renaming that file back to zip?

Naruto... that's not a solution. (and real player sucks )

Maybe it works to reinstall your codecs or something? Try installing a codec pack like K-Lite Codec Pack

yeah, i'm  a stupid funk, and didn't think of rebooting it.

and real are stupid corperate velcro-faces and i awate in anticipation, for the day that it goes bust. REAL PLAYER SUCKS

Yeh the sound thing happens about once a week to me it gets very annoying. Happens to me on msn so i thought it was a bug off msn beta
