Hi guys. i have someone on my contact list who has managed to have a different font in their msn nickname (See Picture). I thought you couldn't change your font. I can copy and paste his name into my nickname and it appears fine, not like if i copy and paste some different font from microsoft word or something. Thanks in advance

He may have been using Messenger Discovery. Let me check first though.

edit: He was most likely using the Customize Contact Font

Some weird alt codes?

I've tried using Messenger Discovery. Are you talking about the override contact font in the mesages options? It doesnt seem to work for me? Or am I doing soemthing wrong

It isn't possible to use other fonts, there's only a default one.
Notice that those "0" are a little diferent than a common one. Same goes for the "5".

Those are simply uncommon ASCII characters.

In a conversation window type /nick then press [ctrl+R] [ctrl+K]

They could possibly just be some symbols, not an actual font - for instance like these:



Try copying them and pasting them into google, and see what sites come up, you might be able to find where they're from

You could also ask your contact where he/she got them from, i'm sure he/she wouldn't mind telling you where they got them from

Ctrl+R only adds a formatting tab, you cannot change the font with this

Ctrl+K is for different colours

shouldn't install messenger discovery cos if u try to uninstall it'll add a trojan horse to ur system (avg free detected it )

To get those special fonts, they are special characters, to get them. Go to Start » Run and type charmap scroll down from the list, you get all of the weird characters
