how can i remove the recycle bin from the desktop?

go to the link above and get Tweak IU, there you have among many options, the option to get rid of the recycle bin from u'r desktop.

that's for windows XP though, assuming you have it

There's versions for other Windowses too. I used to have one for Win95.
