O.P. 100% CPU Usage
[When I do Ctrl, Alt + Del]

My CPU Usage is always really high. Most of the time 100%, although my pc doesn't seem to be running slowly.

I have Windows XP
480 MB of RAM
AMD Athlon XP 3000+

Usually when my pc is at 100% CUP Usage, it lags alot.

Any suggestions why it is always so high?

RE: 100% CPU Usage
this can happen bc of many reasons like
spyware
corrupted files
too many processes running in tast manager
viruses/trojans
some buggy progs that u might run

try to scan your comp with antispyware and antivirus software
get rid of unneeded tasks or
reinstall windows

RE: 100% CPU Usage
When you notice that your CPU spikes to 100% what are you doing with it? A little more information would be great.

If you look at my screenshot:

You can see what programs are using what amount of the CPU. In your case when your CPU spikes to 100% which application is using the most. (When in Task Manager click CPU twice to put them in descending order.)

If you do not have a column heading for CPU then do this:
1) Open Task Manager
2) Processes Tab
3) View
4) Select Columns
5) Check CPU Usage and hit ok

Thats fine it means that only 3% roughly is in use. System Idle Process is there just to show you how much is idle. Its not an actual file.

Ok thanks. My CPU seems to be really high at one point when i'm not doing anything then all of a sudden its low. Weird.

Can I also point out in the image below.

On the username column, all the names have gone, like SYSTEM, CHRIS etc. except from System Idle Process.

I have no idea why.

RE: 100% CPU Usage
I have the exact problem too, expect that it have been always on 100% for months now.

I've scanned the computer with several anti-virus's and spyware's scanners but nothing seemed to change anything.

And it's not really being slow..i don't think so
