Is there anyway I can make my font larger without changing the sizes of the contacts font at the same time?

I'm afraid not: the font size is for the entire conversation history, and is specific only to you.

Damn. I don't want to have to see everyone elses fonts become HUGE because I've made mine a little bigger...
