Today, at 19.45, Sport Lisboa Benfica (My team) is playing against Sporting Clube Portugal (team that beaten newcastle in the uefa cup, and that are in the final)...This match will decide our championship ...Here's how the table is :

as u can see, the top 4 are pretty close to each other...so here's a litle bit of history...

Sporting and Benfica are rivals since 1904, when both were funded...the big fight between the 2 clubs, is that, few years after the foundation of the 2 clubs, Sporting Stole all our players...so you can imagine the whole stuff...Benfica hasnt won a championship since 1994, IIRC so this is a very important match for us...Benfica was allways the biggest club in Portugal.We had great players like Eusebio, Coluna, Albano and much more, and we count many titles, like the Champions League(formerly Cup of Cups), the national cup, our championship etc....Our stadiums are 2 km from each other, so there isnt a big difference from playing home or away, but today we( Benfica) Play home...

Our Coach is Geovanni Trapattoni (Former Italian National Coach + a lot of big clubs in europe)
Our Stadium takes 65000 People, and today it's full ...
we are all excited, 'cause our rivality can be compared with Man Utd to Chelsea or Man Utd to liverpool ...So wish us luck ..

+ Paperless is also a benfica supporter so you better be with us

Almost forgot, 2 games till the end of the championship, so it's pretty important

sorry, but the portugese competition has never been OH MY GOD exciting. except when porto won the champions league.
but porto sold all the good players. and now they suck.

anyway, i'm with benfica

Portuguese football is rather exciting, 'cause classical matches are allways exciting plus, every season, some clubs get really better and compete with the bigger ones, like braga did this season

i'm also a benfica supporter and they will win!!!!!

It was more a case of most (almost all actually) of their best players
getting offers from top teams in europe (and other places i guess too)
to play due to this recognition .... to sad that the team was ripped
apart tho it did reach till .... the quarters this year

we scored in a header in the 83rd minute ...I'M sooo happy ...
Lot's of people in the streets, in their cars making noise ...Now we only need a tie to be champions, if Porto wins their next game
