Does anyone know how to get info from number plates in australia?

What kind of information do you need?

If you mean like what type of car, the person owning it well thats obviously only for the appropiate authority (eg police )

Well, I don't know about there but here in Finland we have a SMS service that lets us check info about the car, we just send the license number as an SMS and after a few seconds we get car model, owner, address etc...
Anyway, Chestah is right - you should contact the police and ask where you could get this nformation.

Little thing called privacy

It depends the reason you want it for, if a criminal offence took place, the police will be concerened, but if you just want it for a personal vendetta then you most likely will get arrested for harresment if you continue digging.
