I dont think making the plus! bar in the IM window trasnparent is possible ... it is quite useful and hence put there I think patchou could put an option to keep it there or not too but i'd rather keep it there and i think so do a lot of other ppl

do you know what the word transparent means? it doesnt mean to remove the icon it just means so that it doesnt have a background so the IM Window background shows behind it not the blue or whatver rectange

Ya thats what i implied Ok i'll make my above post clearer.
And i know what trasnparent means
Atm ... trasnperncy feature is not there ... i think the only way for it to be there is for patchou to add such an option. I think that the original background also looks good but yeah i think it could be done
Why not . I added a new registry setting for the next version so that you can force a specific color for the side bar (in your example, setting it to white would make the whole thing look transparent). The name of the setting will be "SideBarColor".
However, is it not a bit pointless unless the selection is 'actually' transparent and not white. If custom backgrounds are set then white would look ugly (as would any other colour).
Is it possible to make it properly transparent so that the background shows through? (which is what I interpreted his request to mean [correct me if I'm wrong])

well, the edit box where you type your text is always supposed to have a plain color, like in the screenshot above, so itshould look find in most cases. I won't make the bar completely transparent as the buttons would probably not look good if placed above a complex background anyway.
